The raw Ghazni wool is then transported to the western side of Afghanistan near Herat, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and hand spinning into fine carpet yarn. These beautiful rugs are woven on traditional floor looms in the weavers' own homes, reflecting a cottage industry type of production.
