Introducing our exquisite tribal rug, originating from Afghanistan, specifically the Ghazni Province in the southeast. Crafted by talented Turkmen weavers, who primarily belong to the Esari Subtribe, this rug showcases their exceptional skill and expertise.
Made with the finest wool from sheep found in the mountainous terrain of Ghazni, this rug boasts longer staple and high-quality wool, perfect for carpet weaving. The raw wool is then transported to Herat, located on the western side of Afghanistan, where it undergoes the meticulous process of hand carding and spinning, resulting in carpet yarn of exceptional quality.
Using traditional floor looms within their own homes, the weavers create this magnificent rug in the timeless tribal style. Employing an asymmetrical "Persian" knot type, the rug features a cotton warp and weft, with a woolen pile. The double wefted and heavily packed depressed warp weaving technique ensures the utmost durability, ensuring this rug will withstand the test of time.
Featuring a bold red background and a navy border, this rug captivates with its vibrant colors. The rich red hues are derived from natural madder root dyes. Madder root dyes have a long history as a dyeing agent and have been cultivated for centuries worldwide. Their usage can generate an array of warm and cool red, orange, pink, and brown shades, adding a touch of organic beauty to this rug.
Measuring at 2'8" x 9'5", this rug exhibits a knots per square inch (KPSI) of 80. Based on our calculations, this means there are a remarkable 285,785 individually hand-tied knots across the entire rug, a testament to the immense craftsmanship and dedication poured into its creation.
Immerse yourself in the allure of this Afghani rug, a charming blend of tradition and artistry.
